Hi. If you hadn't guessed by the fact I'm producing on headphones, I'm trying to produce on a budget. I have an Ableton controller in the mail, as well as a set of monitor cans. I haven't ordered a dedicated audio interface to power the headphones because I already have a combination DAC and headphone amp. It's a Furutech GT40 (specs here). Would there be any advantage to using a different, production oriented, DAC when I produce? If I did purchase another DAC, it would likely be a small Presonus or Focusrite.
Ideally I'd like to save money, because I'm a PhD student with a limited budget. However I'm aware that some hi-fi gear emphasises and attenuates certain frequency bands in order to improve listeners' experiences. Would my Furutech colour its output like this, making it a poor choice for producing?
Thanks in advance for the responses.
