I'm a "minimalist" when it comes to art & writing and I want to carry it over into my composing side-hustle. My long-term goals are to make $50/month from composing for small indie projects or about $600 per year which I think is doable. Ideally, I'd like to be a full-time composer but I've read a Forbes article on discipline that says to "set realistic goals" and gradually make your goals bigger as your competency increases.
For example, I'm watching a video right now of Adam Neely from 4 years ago reviewing beginner's music and something he says "sounds terrible" actually sounds great to me, and something he says sounds "good" to Adam Neely sounds dull & ordinary to my untrained ear. Maybe I have bad tastes in music? Or maybe my lack of music theory is gatekeeping me from appreciating music the way musical experts can appreciate music?
Thank you for reading.
