Context: Have never learned music - or played it in a way I understood it. Remember playing a 32-key keyboard as a kid with numbers labeled on keys, and playing songs based on a sequence of these numbers. I'm 26 now and want to put aside time everyday to learn music. Have asked a few friends about this, all of them say it's pretty much impossible to learn music at this age. Is it true?
Anyways, I'm willing to put in more hours than needed to figure it out. My goal is to be able to play an instrument fluent enough where I listen to a song and I can play it back on a Guitar/Keyboard. Later on, I want to be able to compose tunes and beats if possible.
With that in mind - where do I begin? What do I learn first, and how do I progress? Has anyone of you picked up music in your 20s/30s and ended up where you wanted to? Please share your experience and suggestions.
