If you throw a mix on a spectrum analyzer, would a good mix be really flat or do lows and highs always sit a little higher than mids? I'm thinking you want it to be very flat because the end user can always eq to their tastes. I always set my stereos to the V EQ, boosted lows and highs, leave mids alone.
If a flat mix is ideal, would every single instrument having a flat mix make the overall mix very flat? If I have instruments that peak in the lows and highs, should I try to balance that with another instrument that has more mids?
