From my understanding when sending out stems you want to take off any type of spacial fx like reverb or delay so that the mix engineer can do that themselves. you only want to keep on fx that are crucial to the sound like a rare distortion or something.
So does it really just depend on if the engineer is skilled enough to bring your track up to commercial level loudness or is there some things i can be doing when sending him the stems that will make it easier for that? I know obviously that cramming too many elements in any one section will make it harder but anything besides too many elements going on at once?
