Hi reddit,
Since a few years, I progress with my DAW and production techniques, but a question arises for each track, and as I am this thread reddit, I would have different opinions.
I could see a lot of tutorials about:
I have many questions:
1
Sidechain must be sidechained, ok! So I must choose, what instrument will occupy my range frequencies ! True ?
Because if a sub tap on the 4 times for kick, and a second sub in sidechain for bass, it will be much too muddy and lifeless ? Always true ?
How do pro's usually do ? Is it according to the musical style? (I would say that the big room EDM, trap or trance would be sub on the kick, while on a type synthwave style, or groovy type madeon or other more groovy bass tracks, the kick is not very present under 60 hz, and the bass/Sublayering bass will take so these frequencies?
2
Sub kick: Do you use a longer attack on the sub volume envellope than the kick ? or a sidechain Main kick on Sub kick ?
Sub bass: for sidechain, do you sidechain differently the sub of the bass (Soft look a head + release more long than main bass)?
3
Sub bass: with the sine wave example, how do you play that? Do you play exactly the same note of your bass track against your rhythm, just a sustain note sidechained against kick ? or are you more free ? Cause for me, can not be too chopped or cut, unnatural problem no ?
It's my only problem with my productions. Reddit community.... I TRUST YOU !!! :p
