I use LOGIC and am wondering about reading EQ
My question basically is: What does it mean when a signal is exceeding the middle line of the equalizer?
I was watching a youtube video where someone made a sound, and during the video he used a low shelf filter on his sub bass sound. When he did that he said he was lowering the sub frequency so it wasnt "clipping" in the EQ... I thought clipping was when a signal exceed 0db. Was he just using poor terminology? Or do i need to make sure no signals exceed the middle line of the equalizer?
thanks for your help
edit: i understand that the middle is probably "0 dB" but why does it matter if something goes above 0 in the eq, so long as the actual signal volume (i.e. the fader) is below? like, couldn't I simply lower the fader ...? i just don't understand why he was so insistent that the EQ signal wasn't above the middle line...
