One of my lecturers at uni taught me an awesome way to make all of your mixes sound amazing in mono. You start your project by making the master channel (stereo out) mono then add all of your elements as you would normally. The idea behind this is that you are not being deceived by the stereo effect that can sometimes throw your mix off. You are solely concentrating on making your mix sound perfect in mono. You can still use effects like reverb etc but the idea is that you get a perfectly balanced mix in mono. Once you are happy with your mix, make the master channel stereo again. It feels like you are entering another dimension of sound 🔊 This process will guarantee that the fundamental parts of your mix will sound perfect in mono, something you should consider as you are listening to tracks in mono more than you probably realise. Mono speakers are everywhere and it is important that your mix sounds good on them. Also loads of phones only have mono speakers.
Give this process a try on your next project, it is always good to switch the mix to mono occasionally to see how the mix will sound on mono devices.
Hope this helps some people, sorry if I explained it badly. Feel free to ask any questions 👌🏾
