I'm a beginner, but I'm getting deeper into producing, and I'm at the point where I'd like to start making complete tracks that "fit" better within whatever genre I'm going for.
The problem is, I listen to and enjoy just about every type of EDM there is, and every time I hear a new track, I get super excited to figure out how to make something like it. One week it's future bass, the next it's retrowave, the next it's chiptune, etc, etc.
I'm wondering if my overall skills will still improve as fast if I jump around to different things, or if I should lock myself into one genre and make nothing but that for a while.
Has anyone else had problems choosing and focusing on one genre or type of music? Has anyone had success splitting their energy over several different genres?
