Long story short ive been producing for a long time (7 years but it might not seem long for some of you vets) and I can finally produce professional grade tracks (not the best, but of professional caliber)
I made a throw away so people don't think im humble bragging or whatever.
I have multiple releases on AIA, yet other promo channels don't give me the time of day. 98% of the time I submit something i don't get a reply, yet I see other producers music on these promo channels the same day they come out.
Is just "being good" not good enough?
I constantly use feedback threads to improve. I've literally been doing this for years. in the past 6 months or so, people have really really started to like my tunes in these feedback avenues. Even asking for genuine feedback theres still very little. Even when I ask for 3 things to improve on most of the time people can maybe only come up with one. I've even sent my tracks to producers on owsla/nest and even they said how sick it was/they loved it ect. Yet No one plays them in their sets. Mind you 100% open to the idea that why I'm not where I want to be is 100% because of my skill/quality of output. In fact, I hope that's it because I'll never stop so ill only get better.
Part of me is starting to wonder to what degree is there some partiality/nepotism in this industry. Do people see skilled yet unknown producers as a threat/competition and refuse to help them out? Maybe even go out of their way to prevent promotion?
Or does it really come down to knowing the right people? (like owners of promo channels, knowing the manager of x person ect)
I know some big names lurk here and I would love love love some tips on how to promote/get out there ect.
Or maybe i just suck at promoting Or maybe im delusional
idk
