I've been making hip hop beats for a few years now but I always end up using 808s for my bass lines. I now want to venture into making old school East coast/west coast type beats like Biggie and Pac used to spit on. Every drum/sample kit I find usually only contains 808s or low quality sub basses. I've tried using Boo bass on FL Studio but it has this certain corniness to its sound that I don't desire to have on my beats. Songs by Joey Badass such as No. 99, Big Dusty, Paper Trails, Christ Conscious, and Run Up on Ya have these really nice bass' that I want to be able to put into my beats. I don't know if his producers sample bass lines or get people in the studio to actually lay it down on a bass guitar, but if there is some chance that I can replicate this sound on my laptop with special sample kits, I really want to be able too. If it turns out that these bass lines are all sampled, links to any tutorials on how to properly sample funk bass lines and stuff like that would be greatly appreciated. Any input to help me making real old school hip hop would be appreciated. Thank you for your time
