So I'm a logic pro x user and I just got this cheap Pyle Pro PED04 electronic drum set. I don't actually make EDM music but I thought you guys would be very knowledgeable in midi instruments and such
So I have this extremely cheap e-drum set. It's cheap yes, but it was rated as the best cheap e-drum kit on some e-drum review site. ANYWAYS. The sound module for it has Midi In and Midi Out.
My external sound card / audio interface is the Tascam US-1800 (rack unit deal, USB) It has Midi In and Midi Out.
So I use the US-1800 all the time with the XLR in's. No issues.
But this is my first time using the US-1800 for the MIDI stuff.
I'm not able to really get my drums to respond. What I'm trying to do is record my real life drum playing, in midi, so I can use the Logic Pro X producer kit drum sounds, OR a third party drum sound pack.
I used a guide online which taught me to "unstack" the producer kit track, create a new external midi track mapped to the producer kit track, but that was it.. My drums still don't respond.
I'm only using the MIDI OUT on the sound module on the drums, and the MIDI IN on the US-1800 audio interface. Do I have to use the other set of INs and OUTs? I only had 1 midi cable on hand.
The Pyle drumset doesn't have any drivers for me to download but I didn't think it mattered since I'm using the US-1800.
Any tips here? I really wanted this drum set to work in this fashion. Only reason I bought it actually.
I have a midi keyboard (has a built in USB out) and I got that to work perfectly.. but I can't seem to get my e-drums to work with the MIDI OUT to the MIDI IN on the US-1800, into logic pro x.
