I've been producing for a little over 5 years and I'm getting pretty confident with my music. I think I'm ready to start building connections and thinking about marketing. I know music comes first and marketing shitty music will get me nowhere, but as it stands right now I have zero online or physical presence, and I know for a fact I deserve more (not festival headlining worthy, but more than 0).
I know playing small shows is a big part of this. I need to meet people (I have zero connections) and build a network. I need to learn how to DJ.
I looked up buying guides for DJ controllers but I immediately realized I'm in over my head. I know... Literally zero about dj'ing. I use my desktop computer to produce. Do I need a laptop? What different kinds of controllers are there? Do the controllers hold the audio files? What kind of hardware to I need? Do I run my DAW live or do I play a show from stems or bounced tracks or what? Maybe I need to start by asking what is dj'ing? I've never once looked into it even in the slightest and I know too little to ask specific questions.
If anyone has a super low level beginners guide or overview I'd appreciate it.
