Has anyone run into this issue when dealing with getting vocals onto a track? The group I'm working with is about get some vocals, and there's one particular singer we want to work with. She mentioned that the lowest she could do is a number above our stated budget. We were planning to just pay her that price because we really want to work with her and she does have many tracks released on major labels along with really good connections. Now I see that she just offered to do another track for another producer for the price we wanted her to get on our track for, which is at exactly at our budget.
I understand singers may charge differently depending on the scope of the project and how big the producer is, but we're unknown and so is the other producer she just agreed to work with. I don't plan to bring it up with her, but I'm wondering if anyone else has had to deal with this. In case anyone is wondering how we know what she charged this other producer, it's a site where singers can bid to get onto tracks and she won the other producer's bid.
