Hi there guys,
so i recently discovered a little tweak that i imagined would come in handy in all tracks, however i may be incorrect so i'm searching for some advice from you guys.
I work within FL Studio 12, and inside this, just like other DAW's, is the ability to make a channel completely mono, either through the mixer or through using a Stereo Enhancer and moving the separation down to minus.
My qualm is, although it may sound silly, I can't decide if it sounds better mono'ing my main bass-synths or not. I work within the Bassline genre so its important to have thick & clean main sounds.
Is there any theory behind this? I find when i completely mono the main bass, it seems clearer without some of the "outer edges" of the bass seeping further into the width of the listeners headphones or speakers.
Or, maybe, the answer to this could vary depending on the song; maybe it sounds good in some and bad in others, but i still feel as though there is some theory behind this as i often hear people talk about panning higher frequencies LandR and keeping bass mono.
Any discussion, feel free to post a comment, thanks!
