So I've been blasting out psytrance music for the last eight years, and am really confident in Ableton Live 8 which I produce in. I pretty much have zero hardware except a laptop, external audio card, a Korg Monotron little thing (never used) and an Akai LPD8 midi controller which I bought for the knobs (also used maybe once).
So I just got booked a gig in a few months at a pretty huge party with probably 500-1000 visitors. I of course said yes, knowing that I could pre-mix and maybe add some synths, but I feel I want to do something more.
I have no slices of my tracks (and I don't really wish to go back to old projects and get them), so I'm not really sure about playing with samples in Ableton Live. I'm not actually sure how that would work as my music is pretty complex with 50-100 seperate synths/sounds in one track.
What should I do? Could I buy some basic hardware? Should I premix in Ableton and is there anything I could do to spice it up? I want to place it safe and highlight my new full-length album for the crowd. I don't really dare to play around. The set will be 2 hours.
Any help really appreciated. Pre-mixing feels a bit lame, but maybe it's my only route. Have a great day guys.
