In acoustic music, many people use a LA2A or 1176 type compressor when nailing down the dynamics of their bass track. But are those two compressors still the best when mixing EDM? The chain below has been my go-to for a while now, but I want to switch it up.
- Softube FET compressor (medium attack, quick release, 6-8db GR)
- Pultec EQ (a big boost at 60hz, blended in parallel)
- IK 76 (all-buttons mode, lots of GR, blended in parallel)
These 3 channels are mixed together to get my desired effect and it usually sounds good-enough. Anyone want to offer any tips or things I could try/add?
