Sup guys I'm entering the mixdown phase of my track. Ut this time I wanted to make sure that my mixdown would be better then my previous track. The biggest problem of my previous track was the dynamic range It was way too big, like 18 dbs of difference. I asked a friend of mine what I needed to do to make sure I wouldn't have this problem anymore and he told me that if I wanted my track to hit -4 rms I should start out like that. Now, I know how compression, eq'ing saturation etc work but I have no clue how to work with dynamic range. How do I make sure that my dynamic range is going to be smaller in the mixdown? Do i need to compress everything on it's own or is it better if I would compress it in groups? Please help me out Thanks
