I've been producing for years. Started life as a youth worker managing the studio teaching kids how to make music. I was 17 at the time. Fast forward, I'm now 32. Still not had any success.
I don't produce for any sort of credibility or money. I enjoy it. But, my younger brother is 18 and already signed to a label and getting his tracks played on UK radio (1xtra, KISS).
I'm like what's the deal here?! I taught him so much growing up and he did it. He broke into the scene. Fair play to him. He tells me if he blows up he'll take me with him. But I'm worn out and tiered of expecting to gain anything from music.
I'm awful at mixing, but have a good knowledge of theory. Still can't do anything. Kaytranada inspired me recently after I seen him in the UK. I did this: https://clyp.it/0qt4a1fg ... then didn't bother opening Ableton for weeks.
I guess one can only be good at one thing. I'll stick to software development.
