I had this random thought just now. There are all types of bands who only play music of a particular artist, like a beatles tribute band, or led zeppelin or all the others.
Well has anyone done a tribute set in an edm setting? Like, dressing up like a robot and making a set with daft punk music? Sort of as a tribute to those artists, not trying to be them but trying to be exactly like them to give people an experience that they otherwise won't get. Afterall, 99.9% of people who want to see Daft Punk live won't get to. They hardly ever do shows. Same goes for artists like Deadmau5, Calvin Harris, etc.
I don't have a strong opinion on this, just something I considered randomly a moment ago. What do you think about the idea of tribute DJ sets?
