Yo guys, i struggle atm...
I produce my music on my 13,3' MacBook in Logic X (Late 2011, 2,4 GHz Dual-Core i5, 16 GB Ram, Samsung 850 Evo SSD). I often connected the Mac to my external monitor but i like the portability for my school projects. Since i own Serum and Spire i run often in issues with the CPU Power in my projects. I know that these VSTs/Au's are real CPU killer, but besides that i can't run projects with a lot tracks + effects. Normally i like to work with audio in the end, so i can render my files but sometimes i like work straightforward - change ideas, add stuff etc - then i don't like to bounce every file to audio every time.
I saved some money (1800 Euros). I don't no what should i do.
1.) Buy a new MacBook with i7 Dual-Core? (i can't afford the i7 Quad-Core). Also i don't want to buy a 4 year old used i7 Quad-Core model
2) Should i keep my MacBook? (besides the music production, this thing is a beast for normal use) A good friend of mine reference the FL Studio Build Guide "Your grandfather used a four-track tape recorder and made albums like A Hard Days Night and Aftermath - Limitations breed creativity, work with what you have and rejoice in the democratization of modern music production".
3) Should i build a Hackintosh? I don't have any experience and i read a lot pros but cons aswell.
4) I don't no if i could give up Logic and OS X in general. With this money i could build a Windows machine only for music, save the rest for plugins, holidays, go out with my girl, driver license etc.
The struggle is real! ;P I hope you understand my english.
I hope you guys can help me out or give me some input.
