In this video you’ll learn how to play “Happy Together” as recorded by the Turtles on guitar. This is a really fun song to play, and we’re going to use a capo on the 2nd fret for this lesson.
The song starts off in the key of Em, and then moves to the key of E major in the chorus section. This is a great songwriting trick used in many songs, and it can immediately create a big contrast between the sections, and add energy to the music.
I’ll show you two ways of playing the main riff. One that is an easier way, which is actually the way it is on the recording, and then a more advanced way that uses a pedal bass note and a technique called hybrid picking. This more advanced way is a great exercise for fingerstyle independence.
When you're done with this video you'll have everything you need to go play along with the original recording. Let's break it down! https://youtu.be/-Vj7xorG1ug
