Greetings, all!
As a nonmusician wanting to increase my understanding of the subject, I would appreciate recommendations of books that would help me with certain key (pun intended) concepts.
My husband has advised me that many musically inclined people have an intuitive understanding of such things as 'beat', whereas I tend not to have an intuitive understanding of anything. I didn't grasp the concept of key until I was in my mid-thirties, for example, and that was after about six months of studying. I'm still working on being able to hear when a key changes, and that's after twenty years of effort.
To be clear, I don't play an instrument.
