Okay so here's what I'm dealing with here: 1. I have very little practise and knowledge of music 2. My rhythm sucks, I don't know how to make it better, will it get better by practise? 3. I want to make my own music, mostly interested in how so many genius artists managed to make music without even knowing how to read music (johhny cash is an example, but I'm Kevin Malone) 4. I already own a classical guitar but I'm considering restarting with a uke because of the size (I'm a small weak sad woman) and because I heard you can learn lots of stuff easily on it, and then maybe later move up to the guitar 5. Do I learn to read notes or tabs if I wanna actually make my own music? I have melodies in mind but don't know how to translate them to guitar.
My "talent" is mostly writing and creating melodies, but I don't know how to turn those melodies into actual chords and notes . Downsides, I am not motivated and have no direction, but currently listening to music and singing is one of the few things that can make me happy.
I tried playing guitar with an instructor and all, that only lasted a couple months till he moved away, I also got a lot of shoulder and arm pain when practicing (according to him my posture was fine)
I have a mediocre voice (kinda like Dodie Clark) I'm into country (Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan), jazz, blues, I also like pop bands like the kinks, and I have written some "funny" songs that I can imagine may be appreciated by the internet.
I am not looking at this as a job or life goal, but just a way to find fulfillment...
I'd be happy copying Dodie Clark and try to look cute with simple uke music. Also I'm poor as hell so I cannot afford classes.
Can you give me any advice?
