I’m more or less a total music beginner, aside from the fact that I know the very basics of sight reading from choir a few years back. I have never played an instrument before in my life.
Recently, I have taken up an interest in learning how to play piano. However, I ended up deciding that I should start with a keyboard (planning to transition to a piano in the future if possible) as it is much cheaper and more reasonable to a beginner like me. I plan on buying one of these keyboards: Alesis Recital Pro, Yamaha P45, Casio Privia PX-160. As for which one, I’m not entirely sure yet; if you have any recommendations on which one to get, I would gladly hear you out!
Anyways, the problem is this. If I buy a keyboard now, I won’t be able to take any lessons from a teacher until a few months later as my schedule now is not too efficient. Should I buy the keyboard now and start trying to play by myself with online lessons through YouTube? Or should I wait until I can take lessons from a teacher to buy the keyboard? Will it be difficult to correct a few months worth of playing?
Thank you for the help!
