I've been playing music for a while, but I never took it seriously.
Now that I'm a little older, I'm looking to get more serious about it and become more versatile/expand my knowledge. So, I am in search of the PERFECT book. It might not exist. I might have to combine 2 or 3 books to get the knowledge I'm after.
Here's what this IDEAL book is in my head LOL: A book that has a modern approach to keyboard playing and music theory/harmony. Like, going over chords and chord "flavors," how to spice things up in a song, and different genres and how you would play keyboard for all of them. Like, a book that goes over the characteristics of each genre with examples and exercises, so that if you know the chord progressions you can follow others in a band. This ideal book would also have dexterity exercises. Basically a book that would make you a very solid keyboardist knowledge-wise and skill-wise.
I'm not even sure such a thing exists, but I'm open to all your suggestions. At least to a book that addresses one of those VERY WELL.
Thank you in advance.
