I love listening to music, and enjoy many different genres. However, I would love to be able to talk about the music, what makes a song or a piece special on a more technical level. Of course listening to more music is part of it, but I am looking for resources that can help me learn more about chords, harmonies and so on - particularly in popular music, but also in art music/classical music. I’m also interested in learning more about music history. One day I might want to try to compose something myself.
I have played the trumpet for many years and know how to play the piano, but I have mostly just followed sheet music the whole time. Can you recommend me any resources, maybe a book, that I can use to learn more?
