So I would like to learn how to play an instrument. I already have an old acoustic guitar. And I've tried multiple times but never end up sticking with it. But now I'm gonna be moving into a new house and I'm gonna have some more extra time on my hands. And I would like to learn an instrument.

I'm looking for something that is a little easier than guitar. Like something with not as many notes/chords to know.

Looking for something smaller than a guitar

Looking for something that's gonna have an old-school charm to it, or just one of those instruments that really set the tone. An example is like the fiddle, in the song Seminole wind. Man when that fiddle gets to whining it really sets the tone. I like music like that. And folk music, and blues

Need something that you can start off cheap learning. And upgrade once you get better at it. I would hate to drop $200 on an instrument and end up hating it.
Things that pop up in my mind but I know nothing about:
the fiddle. I love when I hear the fiddle in songs.
Native american flute. I love the sound of these, but it does kinda suck that theres not really much music that includes them.
Harmonica. Again I love the sound of it. And tried picking it up once but I didnt stick with it so I really never learnt anything.
Ukelele. Such a fun little instrument. I know nothing about it but there is plenty of music that I listen to that uses them.
What should I try out?
