A little elaboration:
I have been a strictly "by ear" musician for about 30 years. Mostly a singer.
I write a lot of hooks, melodies, etc and am looking to understand exactly what I wrote so I can expand on the tidbit I wrote. Like, if I can find out that a particular melody is such and such a scale in such and such a key, I am hoping I can figure out what is is I am doing and where the melody might go from there, key wise.
This seems like an attainable way for me to build on my music theory base. I have tried multiple times to learn theory, but my brain literally shuts down when I am presented with pages full of musical data. My ears get it completely, though.
Im also hoping this can help me get started on chords and how to assemble chord progressions.
EDIT: I found this https://www.wolframalpha.com/?source=nav but I have no idea how to input what it is I want to know, or how to interpret anything I get out of it when I do try.
EDIT 2 some examples of how that above site is used for this https://www.wolframalpha.com/examples/society-and-culture/arts-and-media/music/music-theory/
(btw, wolfram alpha seems to be incredibly powerful, if one knows how to use it)
