I'll get right to the point, I'm looking to upgrade from my price point laptop to a dedicated production rig. I have no experience with building, but have a general idea of what to look for. My biggest questions are

Laptop .vs. Desktop

Processor: I've read great thing about the i7-7700k, but am curious how it compares to the i7-8700k in terms of production processes.

RAM: currently looking at 2x8's (16), would upgrading to 4x8's (32) make as much difference as the price?

Memory: I'm split between a 1-2tb drive or going the SSD route. Would one favor production more than the other?
