I have been meaning to ask this question for a long time: Since a real violin or organ cannot be played continuously forever or a human cannot sing a specific note non-stop, then how come their digital samples have practically infinite decay and sustain? Its like, while using a sample based synthesiser, you can literally play a violin patch continuously just by pressing and holding down a key. So how exactly are those short length acoustic samples translated to the digital/MIDI world?
