Im a hiphop head but i produce all generes- currently dubstep and riddim. Im not talking about making edm remixes. Lets say I use a quick one bar vocal from a popular artist say migos/xxx/drake for example. And this song ends up playing at a festival or gets big online. Will I run into legal issues?
My own subjective view on sampling is besides the point here. (Why sue someone if they loved your song enough to sample it?)
I know its probably best not have these but boy trust me they sound good sometimes, before a drop or playing during a drop. Not chant style but 3-5 words from an acapella before a drop or at the end of 8 bars lets say. Or intro or break or whatever.
Furthermore, say its legally okay, how much would I have to alter the acapella for this to be allowed? I mean pitching it down by 3 makes it sound different but everyone still knows where it came from lolol
This isnt about edm vocal chop leads, more so vocals being used to spice up a song and even make people remember the original.
I would love to hear everyones thoughts on this
