hey there, what about sharing our insight on Sound Design. ( for a snare today )
so for instance, we want to produce a perfect harmonic snare for dnb. ( I don't even produce dnb really, but I try to SD one of the snare for try )
like in this track, I really like the snare ( part of the DnB style ofc ) https://soundcloud.com/signaldrumandbass/rascals-remix
I try to "create my own" ( yes I can resample and shit, but I want to understand how to create my own perfect snare )
so my analysis in trying to find this :
there is a tone part in the 200 / 800 HZ. ( probably operator or FM synthesis ? / or a good sample ) Maybe put a distortion on the tone part ?
followed by a noise sound, hitting / kind of whoosh ( operator / good sample ), maybe not hitting on first ms ? and a more mid tone very smooth ? ( like sort of clap )
( probably operator noise aswell ? )
maybe an harmonic something that "glue" with the rest of the snare ? ( link the noise and the tone ? )
the "master" ? : "whole result" is a bit more glued with saturation and perfect gluing EQ and timing / cut sampling at the root ( and lego the layer one with another ) and a tiny bit of reverb somewhere for glue more the high. ( I m not sure )
what kind of process would you be yours to create a full snare 'bass' ? ( or another one that inspire you, don't be shy to post a song with a good snare and explain your process ), if you wanted to have such a snare
( I know about the tutorial of Au5 or Mr Bill, I watched a lot, this is not why I post this )
and Yes I m talking about the snare, but the process is a bit the same for a lot of things in the end. but I would focus on that today :)
thanks for any post and share of your view, maybe we can whole of us, produce our own tight fucking snare this year :p
