So I've spend months taking courses tailored to Music Theory and writing chord / melody / bass progressions. Still an amazingly long road to go, but I'm on the path, and feeling like I'm actually gaining insight.
With that said, the information I've gained so far almost entirely focuses on the music theory - and not of the song.. components, for lack of a better word. Specifically, on drums/etc.
Currently I'm taking a ADSR Course on "Drums for EDM", but while it is explaining a lot, it's a lacking a basic introduction to what things are. Ie a snare - what qualifies as a snare, what role it has, etc. I often see various drum related terminology thrown around, but I have difficulty imagining the type of sound that the term describes.
Is anyone aware of any good courses for this area of production? Fwiw I'm currently watching youtube videos on anything that sounds EDM-Drum related, in hopes that I might stumble onto the roles of these terms within music design, so I'm putting in the leg work. I've just not found anything explicitly yet.
