Hi guys, I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to recording stuff outside of the box, so bear with me please.
Relevant System Info: Windows 10 Ableton 9 Roland Octacapture Yamaha EX5r synth
The Yamaha is outputting stereo into inputs 3+4 on the octacapture. Phase is inverted because it seems to slightly help the issue I'm about to describe.
On the yamaha is a really cool patch I'm trying to use. However, when it is played through octacapture (just on monitor no recording) vs. directly through the synth's output there seems to be something lost. Directly out of the synth into my dt770s it is VERY wide and feels like it has more movement. Once it goes through the octacapture it narrows significantly, seems to change a bit in timbre, and also sounds less "smooth" (like the resolution is dropping (which doesn't make sense since I turned the sample rate up to 96khz to see if there is a difference -- there wasnt).
So, any idea if this is just a problem inherent to a mid to low cost interface or is there something I can do to fix it?
Thanks in advance.
