Looking for a recommendation on a midi keyboard around 49 or so keys. I currently use Ableton along with a Push 2. I’m looking for something to write melodies. I’m mostly writing house and techno with some edits/remixes of funk and disco. I really like the push for the simpler and writing rhythm, but just feel too limited by not having keys to write melody.
From researching, I really like the light guide and chord settings of Komplete Kontrol. I understand basics, but my knowledge of scales and chords is relatively limited, which is what makes the light guide really appealing. The major downside I see is that when using the KK outside of the NI VST that chords and arpeggiation does not write out the full midi notes (although I’ve seen the workarounds if that really does become a major deal breaker).
I haven’t yet bought into the NI ecosystem, but I do like and see value in many of their products, and like many of their partners plugins.
I haven’t found any other midi keyboards with a similar light guide, am I missing something?
Do others have recommendations on other keyboards I should really consider? I’m not extremely price sensitive, but I’d rather get something that is great that I really like than go too cheap and sacrifice build quality.
