To anyone and everyone that is new to electronic music production
Learning how to use a Digital Audio Workstation from top-to-bottom has to be your absolute first priority, period. All of the music that you will make starts inside the DAW, it is the single most important piece of software you will ever use for making music, and being able to use your workstation confidently and efficiently is the best foundation you can have when you start expanding.
Knowing how to use your workstation is more important than learning music theory. Even if you know absolutely nothing about music theory you should be able to hear when a chord sounds good or bad using your own intuition. C major triads sound good but tritones sound bad - easy. However, your intuition won't be able to help you figure out how to change the tempo of a sample without changing its pitch...
Over the last few days I have seen many more posts than usual from overwhelmed beginners confused about where to start, or posts from obviously novice producers asking about "x-bass sound" who clearly didn't even attempt a Google search.
I've been an active member of this subreddit for several years and usually these kinds of posts are par for the course but recently it seems these posts have reached an all time low.
There have been posts from people that don't even attempt a Google search before posting (sometimes using a post title that brings up a great resource as the first result of a Google search), "How do I make this sound" posts that don't include timestamps for YouTube/SoundCloud (sometimes the posts are so lazy/vague OP asks for help making a bass sound but briefly mentions the producer only), and posts from beginners that want to learn Serum but don't know what an LFO sounds like - it's almost as if beginners want their music to be written and their synths patched without doing any of it themselves.
