I've just recently started, and I'm currently trying to focus on learning Serum in FL Studio 12 and learn how to work with it to make cool sounds and what not.
That said, I don't "get" how learning sound design will make me able to make a quality song. I might make a cool sound, but if It can't shine because I don't even know how to make a song to make that sound useful, then what's the point?
And this isn't even about composition or anything, I understand how most songs can be made and why they are made like that (intro, break, drop, other shit and so on), I just don't know where to...start.
Like, there's so much "stuff" to go through that it feels a bit overwhelming.
What I want is to make a song from start to finish, and right now, I have no clue how to do just that, not even talking about how it sounds. Sure, I can put super shitty percussion and then follow it up with shitty melodies and call it a "song" (more like garbage though), but that's not what this is about.
Hell, I even think I'm overcomplicating this post, but I hope you guys can give me a "direction" on what I should be learning and, hopefully, from reliable sources. I want to learn how to make quality bass + sub bass, how to connect certain composition parts, etc.
So yeah, I hope some of you understood what I was trying to pinch at...maybe not...eh.
Edit : would, perhaps, a "song made from start to finish" type shit help me? Seems like I would better understand what to focus on etc when making a track instead of just being stuck in one part.
