Hi Guys
I could use some advice on a few copyright related questions. I've been working on a song for a loong ass time and i've managed to find a vocal that sits perfect in the mix. The vocal i've used was featured in a remix competition last year on wavo and is copyrighted by a major label. The thing is, for the first time in years i feel i might have struck something that will stick. And i prefer not to get fucked over by a label because i've not taken the proper precautuons. The things that concern me are: 1.My "remix" doesnt really fall under the same genre as the label is focusing on. 2. If i send in a demo, what keeps them from simply using their own producers to simply improve upon my song? From what i've read, obtaining a licence to use the vocal can be a expensive and painstaking process. I've tried contacting them but gotten no response.
I'd love some advice from those of you who got some experience or knowledge on this subject :)
