I do my best creative work when I get the whole track down in around 2 hours; of course I mean the main creative elements, how the track works, bassline, parts, etc. However if I do that 2 hour "yes I have the basis of a finished track", I can never do the track justice at a quality level, eqing, samples, synth patches...I want to do another track!
On the other hand if I do some high quality shit one day focusing on high quality synth parts and a maybe a 16 bar groove - I cannot go back to it and do it the justice I was sure it deserved! It's lost - I don't catch the original groove, I've moved on.
Maybe it's the fact that all my sessions are roughly 3-4 times a week, 1-2 hours long (job, family, home etc).
I guess my question is how to manoeuvre around this? Any tips?
