I was wondering if anyone could recommend some tunes that help build some standard chops/techniques on keys?
I'm a professional bassist/guitarist (and teacher on the side) but want to expand my keyboard skills- at least enough to fill-in on a few gigs if needed. Currently I probably can't do much more than pad the changes.
I'm looking specifically for things to build my technical facility, but I'd rather do it thru songs than Hanon and whatnot.
In terms of taste I'm looking for stuff in the vein (or repertoire) of artists like Prince, Steely Dan, Stevie Wonder, Quincy Jones, some old school like Ray, Bobby Womack, or NRBQ, and some modern gospel standards.
Thanks!
