I know many artists enjoy doing some bass or synth sound design separate from music composition or songwriting, however, how do you choose what note(s), tempo, etc. and organize that information for later use in songs?
My first thought was to simply choose the note(s) and tempo that best showcase the sound I’m making and then just bounce a sample and label it appropriately, but one could also sample different variations and save all of those “just in case.”
Alternatively, maybe you just save the patch in your favorite synth and don’t even bother sampling?
I’m just looking for different options and ways to do this effectively so that I can ultimately stay “in the zone” during songwriting/composition and have some ready made content that I can grab to capture ideas.
Thanks in advance for your input!
