First off, I have two favorite genres of music, EDM, and classic non-mainstream country, not that pop country bullshit.
I am wanting to get into making some songs and producing, but I am struggling to know where to begin, I have been searching this subreddit for awhile, and read the Newbie FAQ and I am still looking for someone to take pity on me and point me in the right direction. I know absolutely nothing about using a DAW or where to begin. I do however know a lot about musical theory.
I have been playing the piano since I was 5 and music theory has always been an interest to me, so I excel there. I picked up the guitar at a young age and even joined a shitty garage rock band. Shortly after that I started to write my own music and joined a choir to perfect my voice, at that moment in my life I was focusing on writing country music, or singer/songwriter folk music if you will. I picked up the banjo and the slide guitar and then the drum kit. I was wanting to be a really well rounded musician.
Shortly after that I was introduced to EDM and fell in love with, pretty much all genres. Now I hear and see all these melodies in my head and decided, fuck it, I wanna try to make some of these ideas are reality instead of just keeping it to myself.
So back to my original question, is there a good place for me to start to learn how to use a DAW? I have tried using youtube but I seem to find super shitty guides and its starting to discourage me. So if someone can give me some tips on where to go I would highly appreciate it. I am sure it already exists, its just hiding from me!
