Hey, guys, this is going to be a bit longer of a post, so I'll include the TL;DR here. Basically, over the past year or so, I've been working on a website that features some really awesome tools to help with making music. They can be found here: http://sepshun.com/ Note: This site currently only works on desktop computers. Mobile support is being worked on.
So a bit of backstory and explanation to this website. I'd always felt there was something missing from my workflow, promoting music was an absolute pain, and key signatures were always difficult to understand and use properly. Thus, the Promo List and RKS were born. Disclaimer: This site is nowhere near finished, it's in a perpetual state of development and will grow to be bigger and better every month.
RKS: This tool allows you to easily visualize tons of key signatures, between 15 different scales. It's responsive and interactive, you can click on the piano notes to change what your root note is, and click the name of the scale to change what scale you're displaying. In the future, this will be able to communicate between different tools on the site that pertain to music theory and will have many more scales and features. Also, RKS stands for Random Key Signature, so this page allows you to easily pick a random note, scale, or both. Essentially opening new opportunities for inspiration and innovation.
Promo List: This is just a huge interactive list of promoters that upload on Youtube. It allows you to filter the list based on the genres they promote, as well as how they take in submissions (email, web forms, etc). You can copy a promoters email to your clipboard with the click of a button, and open their social media links by hovering over the "LINKS" tabs. This has a long way to go before I'd consider it perfect, but I feel it's a good concept.
Chords: On the chords page, you'll find simple formulas that can be used to create specific chords starting from any root note. This is the smallest and simplest tool on the site, but definitely powerful and useful when trying out new progressions.
That sums up the page in its current state, though I plan to release updates on the first of every month, and after getting a lot of the planned features added, I'll start taking suggestions for tools from users and the community that I hope to build around this idea. The tool is open-source and will hopefully be community driven, so we could build these tools and awesome new ones together!
For any web developers out there that want to tell me how wrong I'm doing things, the GitHub repo can be found here: https://github.com/Sepshun/sepshun-website/tree/v1.1
At the end of the day, I just hope that the tools I've made for mostly myself can prove to be useful for at least a handful of other musicians. So if you find the site helpful, let me know, it'd really make my day :)
