I write rap and I produce hip hop/EDM, mostly EDM and subsets of EDM. Anyway, when I'm in the mood to rap I'll get motivated and pumped by listening to rappers I like. Almost always gets me to put down some great lyrics. EDM, on the other hand, almost ALWAYS makes me feel like shit. I absolutely love listening to the genre and want to be able to produce at a pro level eventually, but I find that 75%-80% of the time I'll fire up some shit I'm in the mood to produce. Anybody have any tips? Obviously I know they've been doing it much longer than me and that's why I'm so far behind them, but idk. Sometimes I'll get creative from it, but most of the time it just makes it feel so out of reach.
