Recently heard a track on the YT channel Slav. This track has me absolutely mesmerized. Now the sampling of Patrice Rushen - Remind Me is impeccable. Sampling the arp at the start and a single bass note till the second phrase where it expands on the intro with the sub activated on the kick is just gorgeous. The vocals have been EQed just right too.
Now my question lies with the drums. Is that kick from a drum machine? I want to emulate that sound properly and do not understand how to do so. Is it layered? Is that a sampled break providing the hats and the weak snare? Because I can hear a distinct wet clap that comes in at the start of the track and when the vocals kick in. What would you call this style of production? It sounds like 90s throwback house, but I cannot be sure.
This is my first post on this group, so please be gentle ( :P ). Also are there any forums/ resources for learning how to recreate this 90s style of house production.
