Hey all,
So immediately upon reading the title of this post, you may assume that this is just another noob asking "how do I get my tracks loud"... I've come a bit further from that point, however.
I've become pretty decent at making clean mixes, and I've recently moved on to trying to get my masters loud and clear. I've had professional advice from a producer named Mutrix, now starting a new alias as Lux Pacific, and he told me that all he puts on his master is a utility (ableton), Izotope Ozone, and then a Limiter.
Long story short, once I have a clean mixdown and am sure that the track doesn't peak at all, I use the same preset he uses on Ozone, and top it off with a limiter, but I can never get the mix as loud as his!
Was wondering if any of you are familiar with Ozone and had any tips on what I might be doing wrong. He told me to make sure the track isn't peaking, and if Ozone is crushing the mix too much, turn up the maximizer threshold.
It almost ALWAYS obliterates my mix at the threshold he starts with, and I can't figure out why... :/
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm sick of quiet mixes!
Thanks!
