I think the title says it all - when it comes to vocal processing, how much processing is actually needed to achieve a professional result?
Let's assume the process on the dry vocals was as followed:
-
Auto-Tune*
-
Compressing
-
De-Essing
-
Multiband
-
FX (Reverb & Delay, ADR)
*Regarding Auto-Tune, i mean just passing the vocals to Melodyne and correct off notes.
If you ask for feedback on the vocals after this process and the feedback is completely negative - is the recording just sh%&? Does the vocalist just doesn't fit on the track? Or did i not invest enough time in the process? Can Auto-Tuning fix a sh*t recording or not? How much does it depend on the vocalist if the end-result is acceptable or not?
Thanks for some input!
