I know this may seem like a stupid question but I am a music producer who has been making music in ableton for a while now and my process of creating songs has always been just to play some notes on my keyboard and put that on my song but i now i realise that the key of a piece of music is pretty important to know, but i don't know how to figure out the key of something i play. I know all the notes and stuff like that and i kind of know the scales and keys but i don't know how to find the key of the notes I'm playing. For example, I just jotted down a little bassline with some midi notes and the notes im using are B, C, and A, Does this mean that the line is in the key of C Major since all the notes Used are in the C Major scale or am i just completely wrong?
