Like many, I've always wanted to learn an instrument but never have. I'm tired of putting it off, I want to begin asap. I know it will be a long haul, but I'd rather be able to play half-decently at 35 than 40...
I love the sound of the violin and the cello, but I know piano is a bit more accessible. Could use some advice on which to run with.
I've looked up nearby teachers (someone recommended takelessons.com, is there a better place to find a teacher?) and the violin would be the most expensive per lesson, but it would also be the most convenient since they would come to my house. There's a slightly cheaper violin option who says she uses the Suzuki method (and specializes in ages 3-18...), which I have seen a lot about online. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing.
Cello I would have to uber to/from but the cost would still come out to below the violin (but time to/from would be wasted) per lesson. Transporting a Cello is a bit of a pain, though, right?
While Piano might be the most accessible to learn, I don't have a piano nor do I really have a ton of space for one - though I could maybe fit a keyboard somewhere. However, lessons seem to be the cheapest and they are all willing to teach at my place. Are there affordable entry-level options that wouldn't require a complete remodel of my apartment to accommodate?
Also, how annoying is each instrument to learn for neighbors? I know violin/cello can take forever before you sound decent... am I going to make enemies if I learn in my apartment?
Thanks, sorry for the long-winded post!
Edit: How much should I expect to be paying per lesson actually? For reference, violin is $100/lesson at my house, piano is $55/lesson at my house, and cello is $55/hour at a studio nearby (~$20 round trip for uber).
